Classic Events [May. 24th, 2009|05:47 am]
[music |Classic FM]

I am sick of taking up people's valuable time, energy and money. Criminal Intent is on all weekend (and monday) on the Hallmark Channel, maybe if I just coop myself up watching that then nobody will notice where I've gone.

Writer's Block: Don't Call It a Comeback [May. 24th, 2009|05:41 am]

[music |Classic FM]

The French term "l'esprit de l'escalier," which translates literally as "the wit of the staircase," refers to those perfect, clever comebacks that you only think of after the fact. What's the best came-too-late comeback you've ever had?

"Shut up, Becky!"

Oh, wait, that might actually have been Marge Simpson.

two pound coins on the table. [May. 19th, 2009|10:27 am]
[music |Ridings FM]

I can't even be arsed clicking on that Writer's Block cos I already started typing, but my answer is Firefly.

So yeah, that job interview I went for, where I implied that I strip off when I do stand-up? Got a second interview this afternoon. In the bloody bag. Just need to know when to stop talking.

I just did some Wii-Fit, and then had a cigarette, and now I feel sick. It's partly nerves too actually but either way, I'm feeling Wrong.

Think I'm gonna hit a Teachers box set for the day, was gonna do some writing but I'm not inspired this week.

Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit dismissive of this here website. We go back a long way (six years in July), but the fact remains that what passes for a life these days does not warrant regular LJage. There's just nothing. So last night for example, I went to a party and drank and smoked and stayed up all night, watching pretty fireworks and enjoying seeing a small child beat up a fully-grown man. It was fun but it has no bearing on my life, so I see no need to record such events.

I've been feeling down about my lack of a job today. It's really depressing to keep having to ask my family for bus fares and stuff, just so's I can get from A to B. The upside is, when in such situations, you realise that people exist who love you and care for you. Maybe I need to drill that into my own head a bit more.

How many (if any) songs do you know by heart? What are they?

Are you trying to wind me up on purpose, Writer's Block? Unless I'm a complete freak who should be burned at the stake, I think I'm not gonna be the only one who couldn't possibly list every song lyric I know in a single sitting.

Oh, wait, no, I do actually only know the words to one song. Altogether now: I come from a land down under...

"This ISN'T Barney...though I hear that guy's awesome." [May. 12th, 2009|01:04 pm]

I've pretty much given up on this thing. I did get a new username and everything, but won't be writing in there until a certain thing I'm working on is finished and I can cast this one aside like a used up tissue. Thing is though, I don't have much to write about anyway so getting a new one would just be a waste of Internets.
Go get yourself some How I Met Your Mother. Best US sitcom I've seen in absolutely years.

do you still hate me? [May. 11th, 2009|11:03 am]
[music |Jawbreaker - 24 Hour Revenge Therapy]

So while I'm waiting for allllll these potential recruiters to reject my applications, my time is better spent writing stand-up, shooting and editing on imovie, and working on my STILL SUPER TOP SECRET project, than it is playing The Godfather for the fifth or sixth time on the Wii.
The secret is to expect good things. The sunshine helps. As does listening to Jawbreaker, actually.

say I am. [May. 6th, 2009|10:36 am]
I just heard a song by Alison Palmer (who turned out to be the singer from the Dresden Dolls) called Leeds United. Does anyone know if this is a cover of the Luke Haines one? The internet is being unhelpful on purpose. First thing I thought when I saw 'Palmer' and 'Leeds United' together in the Music section of Virgin TV - awesome, Carlton Palmer's released a single!

Oh, and I'm off to Alton Towers today. Bring on the envy!
